Poker is a game of skill and chance. Players must use their five cards and their ante to build a hand. If no one else calls, they can collect the pot. In a draw, the pot is divided equally among the players.
The first round of betting occurs after the dealer has dealt the cards. In some games, all but one player may fold. The pot is won by the best hand.
The second round of betting is similar. When all but one player has folded, a Showdown takes place. The winner is the person who gets the highest card.
The ante is the amount of money that each player puts into the pot. The ante is usually equal to one chip. During a draw, a player must add a larger ante. In some fixed limit games, a player is restricted to placing a certain amount of chips into the pot.
A straight flush starts with the highest card in the deck. This is a good natural hand. However, some games do not consider straights. A flush is defined as five cards in the same suit.
The high card is not necessarily the best hand. A pair of kings is not very good off the deal. In some variant games, the winner is the highest unmatched card. The best straight is a straight with five cards of the same suit.
The best hand is the combination of the highest card and the lowest card. A straight flush is the best natural hand.
